Annual General Assembly of Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee (HRTMCC) held in Kathmandu on December 20. The representatives of human rights organizations have stressed on the need of collective voice of human rights issues. Speaking at the program, INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel pointed towards the need for raising the issue of legal shortcomings and implementation status. Saying that HRTMCC was a common platform to work on human rights agendas, he expressed that all the activities pertaining to Universal Periodic Review should be encompassed here. He also urged the organizations to provide inputs on reports through the HRTMCC website and to incorporate them. INSEC Executive Director Bijay Raj Gautam informed the participants about the AGM and urged the member organizations to coordinate with the secretariat. In the program, the coordinators of committees on ICESCR, ICCPR, CAT, CRC, CEDAW, CERD and CRPD presented their progress reports. Samjah Shrestha, the coordinator of the HRTMCC at its secretariat INSEC facilitated the program.
